New York City

3 weeks ago we tossed everyone in the car and headed to NYC.  ...well it wasn't that sporadic, when Kirsten came to stay with us, we told her she could pick any place reasonably close by that she wanted to visit and we would go for a long weekend.  She picked New York and we called some friends who had been there a few times to meet us there.

Our first night we went to see the new world trade center buildings being built and grab some dinner.  We all thought New York pizza sounded like a great idea.  To bad it was awful!  (but don't fret, we later found an amazing whole in the wall kind of place, and it was awesome!!)

Lilly liked hers, though!  I love that the pizza was about as big as she was.  Good thing she shared this slice with Grace!

The 9/11 memorial was really beautiful and inspiring.  This is a fountian/pool and it's huge! We just stood and stared forever.

When we got out of the subway in Time Square we saw this billboard.  Sam and Kirsten love batman, so we had to take a picture.

On Sunday we took a ferry to Stanton Island.  The ferry is free and goes by the Statue of Liberty. The girls thought the boat ride was fun, and it was nice and cool being on the water.

After the ferry ride we went to play in Central Park.  For the most part I wasn't too impressed with New York.  I felt like it is over romanticized, the city is dirty and the people are rather mean, but I did enjoy my time in the park.  I was really impressed with the playgrounds and splash park they had.  And the girls loved that they could get out and run around instead of being locked in their strollers while we marched around the city.

I love the girls' poses in this one.

so Lilly.

All in All we had a good time being together.  While we were in NYC we also went to china town, saw the bull in the financial district, ate at a great mexican restraunt in Time Square, and Kirsten and I got a pedicure.  Sam and I do want to go back sometime and go to a Broadway, but we aren't in too much of a rush to do it!
