Sam turned 28 this year, and it just happened that we had to be out of our house on his birthday while they sprayed in insulation in our basement. So we decided to make a weekend of it and head to DC.
Before we left though, Sam had to find one of his presents. We played hot and cold, and it was really funny because the girls didn't know where it was hidden and kept giving him the wrong directions.
Is it here?? No....
Is it here?? No....
It was on top. The girls and I had made him a candy gram!
I also made him a "Happy Birthday" Banner, but it didn't show up very well in the picture.
After Sam found his present, and ate some doughnuts I had picked up that morning we were in the car and off to Washington DC.
Sam and the girls with the capital in the background.
The Washington Monument
The first day we went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
The girls and I went in the butterfly exhibit together. They were so excited to get in, but once we were in they were scared of the butterflies. Which was actually kind of nice because then I didn't have to worry about them smashing them on accident!
I had a little friend the whole time we were in there.
When we got to our hotel we went swimming and then had some dinner and then Sam opened his last present.
(By the way, we got a new refrigerator for our birthdays this year, because our old one was about to go out, so I got creative and made Sam a few gifts!)
A pack of Hot Wheels
And a t-shirt with a city "Samville" drawn on the back.
Then he can lay down with it on and the girls would drive cars on his back and give him a little back massage!
The next morning I went to the temple, and then we went swimming again. After we checked out we had lunch at Cafe Rio, and then went back into DC and went to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
The girls got to touch a moon rock.
Crazy Daisies!
Sam loved seeing this Predator Drone.
Sunday night I made Sam a peach and blackberry crisp for his birthday cake since he doesn't really like cake.
He was a happy boy!
It was so fun celebrating all weekend with Sam. He is such a great husband and father, and does so much for us all the time, it was great to be able to spoil him!!
We love you!
