My first 5K.

In March I decided I wanted to run a race. And after some convincing I persuaded Sam he wanted to do it with me. So today I ran my first 5k. Sam has ran races before, but it has been a few years. My whole reason for wanting to run a race was that I would have to workout to train for it. (and hopefully lose some weight in the process) And my only goal for the race was to run the whole thing.

And I did it!
We ran the whole time, and I lost 15lb's in the process of training.

I'm so glad we did this, and it now has me thinking of doing a 10k next, because I wouldn't mind losing another 15! But I think I'll give myself a few weeks off to think about it and let my Achilles tendon heal. I stressed it a couple weeks ago and never let it fully recover because I wanted to keep training. Now I will, and when it does I will decide what I want to do next.

Thank goodness I had Sam there with me every step of the way. He was awesome, telling me stories to keep my mind off how nice it would be to walk, and encouraging me the whole time. I really don't think I could do a race alone, so if I do another one I might drag him along again. I don't think he would really mind though. You should have seen the wheels on this guy when we started sprinting for the finish line. It really was amazing!
