My parents came to visit in April. We had been planning this trip for months, but back in March my mom got the news that she had stage 3 breast cancer. We really weren't sure if she would be able to come out for the visit since she would be having a mastectomy 2 weeks before, but it turned out to be perfect timing. She still needed another week off before she returned to work, and her Dr. had just cleared her to travel the day before her scheduled visit.
So they came. When I first laid eyes on her I wasn't sure we had made the right choice, she looked tired and in pain, but as the week went on she really got her energy back and recovered really well. I am sure tons of hugs(only on her not owie side) and kisses helped immensely.
As soon as Grandpa got to the house, all the girls had to try on his hat!
Then my parents gave us Idaho shirts they bought us on a very long delay at the Boise airport!
I scheduled before hand with Grace and Lilly's teachers for the girls to celebrate their birthdays at school while my parents were here. Because they have summer birthdays they get to pick any day of the school year to celebrate. And Grandma and Grandpa were able to go have lunch with the girls and their friends.
It was so helpful having my mom in town because she helped me make the class treats for the girls' birthdays.
Lilly chose these cookie sandwiches
And Grace chose billionaire bars
Since my mom would be starting Chemo when she went home, I gave her a really short haircut to make the hair falling out process easier.
This is my favorite look on her!
We also got to celebrate Pearl's real birthday.
We had cake and opened presents, and then went to Chuck-E-Cheese.
We had a great time celebrating birthdays and just being together!
We love it when grandparents come to visit!
