Potty Trained.

Grace has been potty trained for a whole week now! She is really doing awesome with it. I decided that if we were going to finally do this, we were going to have to go all or nothing, so when she woke up last Tuesday morning I told her that she didn't have any more diapers and that she was going to have to go pee and poop in the potty.

We put on her Minnie panties, and she peed in them about 20 min. later...as I expected. Grace was very upset that she got Minnie wet. (I may have played it up a bit too, guilt works like a charm on this girl, and I try not to use it too often, but this was a special circumstance.) Another 40 minutes later Grace told me that she needed to go potty, and sat on her frog potty and went. She was so excited, I was thrilled and she got a huge treat! The rest of that day she had 3 accidents. And keep in mind I was pumping juice and soda down her like crazy so that she could get a lot of practice.

The 2nd day she was accident free until the very end of the day when she was playing hide and seek with Sam and wasn't willing to give up her amazing hiding spot (her room, it's always her room!) to go potty.

The 3rd-6th days she was accident free, but the last 2 days she has had one accident each. I'm trying to teach her that she bladder doesn't have to be completely full to go, when she learns that I think we'll be golden.
I was really nervous that I would have to tote this frog potty with me the rest of Grace's life so she could go potty, because she was terrified of the big toilet. But I borrowed my neighbors Car's (Grace LOVES that movie!) potty seat. It fits on the big toilet to make a smaller hole, for smaller bums. Grace loves it, and now will only use it.

If anyone wants to know step by step how I really did things you should read this book, On Becoming Potty Wise. It really worked great.

I'm just so proud of Grace, and how quickly she caught on. I love her little victory dance after she goes in the potty, especially when she poops, it's hilarious! Actually it's a lot like the song Dora sings at the end of all of her shows. "I did it! I did it! I did it! Yeah!"

Way to go! Congrats! That is a huge step! I might have to try it. But I love the frog potty! Who wouldn't want to sit on that thing.

its so nice not having to worry about diapers! I just had to get Hallie the next size up in panties, she loves picking them out. Way to go, it gets easier and easier everyday. My problem with Hallie is just getting her to not wake up in the night to go pee. If I don't wake her up right as we are going to bed and take her she almost always will wake up at 5 crying to go to the bathroom. But she has NEVER had an accident in her bed thankfully so I can't really complain all that much!
